چکیده
A bioassay-guided fractionation and chemical investigation of the MeOH extract from the twigs of Lindera glauca (SIEB. et ZUCC.) BLUME resulted in the isolation and identification of six lignans (1-6) including three new lignan derivatives, named linderuca A (1), B (2), and C (3). The structures of the new compounds (1-3) were determined on the basis of spectroscopic analyses, including two dimensional NMR and circular dichroism (CD) spectroscopy studies. The cytotoxic activities of the isolates (1-6) were evaluated by determining their inhibitory effects on human tumor cell lines. Compounds 1-5 showed antiproliferative activities against A549, SK-OV-3, SK-MEL-2, and HCT-15 cell lines with IC50 values of 7.79-29.42 µM. Based on the understanding that inflammation is a crucial cause of tumor progression, we also investigated the anti-inflammatory activities of the isolates (1-6) in the lipopolysaccharide-stimulated murine microglia BV-2 cell line by measuring nitric oxide (NO) levels. The new lignans (1-3) significantly inhibited NO production with IC50 values of 12.10, 9.48, and 9.87 µM, respectively, without cytotoxicity.

Bioactive lignan constituents from the twigs of Sambucus williamsii.
As part of our ongoing search for bioactive constituents of natural Korean medicinal plants, three new lignan derivatives, sambucasinol A-C (1-3), together with 7 known compounds (4-10) were isolated from the twigs of Sambucus williamsii. The structures of these new compounds were determined by a combination of 1D and 2D NMR spectroscopic data analysis, as well as circular dichroism (CD) spectr...
متن کاملDevelopment and characterization of microsatellite loci for Lindera glauca (Lauraceae)1
PREMISE OF THE STUDY Microsatellite primers were developed to investigate population genetic structure in Lindera glauca (Lauraceae). METHODS AND RESULTS Twenty-five microsatellite primers were developed and optimized for L. glauca using Illumina's Solexa sequencing technology. These novel primers were found to be polymorphic in nine wild L. glauca populations with 81 total alleles confirmed ...
متن کاملPopulation Biology of Snowshoe Hares. Ii. Interactions with Winter Food Plants
i (1) We investigated interactions between snowshoe hares (Lepus americanus) and their food plants in winter during a cyclic fluctuation in numbers at Kluane, Yukon, between 1977 and 1985. • (2) The winter diet of hares at Kluane was dominated by four species of shrubs and trees. Betula glandulosa, the most preferred species, was common on only four of nine study plots. Salix glauca was eaten m...
متن کاملIntegrated transcriptome sequencing and dynamic analysis reveal carbon source partitioning between terpenoid and oil accumulation in developing Lindera glauca fruits
Lindera glauca fruits (LGF) with the abundance of terpenoid and oil has emerged as a novel specific material for industrial and medicinal application in China, but the complex regulatory mechanisms of carbon source partitioning into terpenoid biosynthetic pathway (TBP) and oil biosynthetic pathway (OBP) in developing LGF is still unknown. Here we perform the analysis of contents and composition...
متن کاملProlyl endopeptidase inhibitors from the roots of Lindera strychnifolia F. Vill.
Prolyl endopeptidase (PEP, EC 3.4.21.26) has been proposed to play a role in degradation of proline-containing neuropeptides involved in the processes of learning and memory, e.g., vasopressin, substance P, and thyrotropin-releasing hormone (TRH). In the course of our search for bioactive constituents in medicinal plants, we studied the PEP inhibitory constituents of the roots of Lindera strych...
